The continuing adventures of Rhys, Michael and Ashley and their adventures in the fantasy world of Portalia. The teenagers are still searching for a route back to Earth as their new skills grow and develop. Rhys with his ability to create portals is still struggling to understand his powers. Now resurrected with the heart of a dragon, Michael fights to make sense of the dragon images and sensations that form in his mind. Ashley, a little jealous of the boys and their powers, soon finds an unexpected ability of her own as during a fire eagle Ceremony of Choosing she is chosen as a new rider. With the help and support of her mind bonding she overcomes her inherent fear of heights to join the forces of Pinn warrior riders. In an effort to rid Portalia of the evil warlock Weldrock, the OverLord Toran sends his Warlord Gorlan on a mission to seek out the island of the Graav.Joined in the quest by the Earth-born teenagers and the twin Pinn riders, Stern and Carl, the expedition seeks out the assistance of a race of sea elves. Weldrock, secure on his island hideaway has finalised his coven of thirteen and called forth the Shii, a group of ruthless female demon sisters.
With the strength of his growing knowledge of magic, and the brute force of the Shii combined with the force of his coven, Weldrock hopes to conquer Portalia and make it his own. The Pinns and centaurs of Eumor, assisted by Gatherer, a curious giant of a creature pulled to Portalia by the power of the portals, must once again thwart the efforts of the warlock. However, this time they must do this without the skills of Farspell the wizard who has been called to assist the dramkaan, who is struggling to close a tear in the fabric of the portal network which was caused by Gatherer's transportation to Portalia from his desert world.Will the allied forces finally defeat Weldrock and will the mysterious, Shimmering Gate, used by Nexus, the Black Assassin, offer a route back to Earth for the teenagers?
