It is 1940, and the younger members of the Adams family are caught up in the war in France. Boots and his son Tim manage to reach home safely, but Bobby is injured and trapped by the advancing Germans near Dunkirk. With the help of a local farmer he hides in the countryside but is desperate to get home.
